BMW Ghost Immobiliser
The Ghost utilizes the data bus CAN to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from putting in a new key or even replacing the ECU to bypass your security system as it requires a valid PIN code to start the engine.
In contrast to other immobilisers, the Ghost does not use LEDs or key fobs. Instead, it uses the buttons in your vehicle to allow you to enter a specific disarm sequence that you only know.
Stop & Start
If you've been in a BMW or used its stop-start feature you might have noticed that the engine continues to run for about 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to watch the vehicle for signals emanating from the ignition key. Once it finds this the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car every time you press a button.
Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarm and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with an unique PIN code that can be accessible through buttons on your car. This lets you enter the key push sequence that isn't found available in the usual menus for media, such as volume up/down, source, cruise control or air conditioning on, which prevents your car from starting until the sequence is entered. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 digits and is therefore difficult for thieves to determine or break.
In addition, we can also add a service/ valet mode to the system, this is activated when the car is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is not visible to the garage. You can activate this mode by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment device (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically re-arm when you return.

Service Mode / Valet Mode
The Ghost is the most popular immobiliser available. It prevents your vehicle from being taken through key cloning or hacking. It works by using the vehicles factory buttons to create an individual sequence of pushes which only you know, much as the pin code security of your mobile phone. It's subtle, extremely effective and deterrence for even the most determined thieves!
When parked at home or in an event where you meet and greet, when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode, which allows you to start your vehicle using your keys in the normal way, but stops the engine from starting again unless the correct code is entered. This is great for those who need to hand over their cars to valet services, or trusted family members and friends. This lets you take your car to the garage for repairs and maintenance, etc. without worrying that it might be modified by mechanics while you are waiting.
If the service/valet mode has been enabled and enabled, your BMW will not be able to drive after it has been turned on. This stops anyone else from driving it while you're away. When you return, the vehicle will revert to normal and stop it from being tampered or stolen again.

Anti-Hijack
With high-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated the security technology has to evolve, this is why Ghost has created this subtle and unobtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from putting in an ignition key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive it off. Ghost connects to your CAN data network and uses the buttons within your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence that needs to be completed before the engine can start.
If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. The system will sharpen the horn, flash the indicators and stop the vehicle when the code isn't found. By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can cancel the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to temporarily start without entering PIN.
If you have an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it can be used to turn off the Anti-Hijack feature so you can still use the navigation system inside your car even when the vehicle is parked and not being watched. If you have a smart-phone you can also link it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

Remote Control
We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile app to enable remote control of keyless start and go capabilities. This is helpful if you have to go somewhere other than home and valet or mechanic needs to start your car. The system allows you to turn your vehicle on, select drive and leave service mode without having keys. You can also view your vehicle's location in real-time on a map on your smartphone, perfect for tracking your car when in motion.
The Ghost can be installed under the dashboard, or within the centre console. It is completely hidden and tamper-proof. It does not need any additional wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised pin code is inserted into it. The pin code must be selected prior to the engine starting. This stops thieves from gaining access to the system using an unauthorized clone or replacement ECU.
If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a security mode that disables all functions unless the PIN code is entered or you make use of the mobile app to disable it. This feature was created to safeguard your vehicle from high tech criminals who are using relay boxes to steal your car. It also prevents thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat-nav or MP3 player to locate your vehicle!
Ghost can also prevent 'Relay-style Frequency Amplification'. This is the most frequent method of stealing a car using a keyfob that's duplicated or stolen through hacking. Ghost can help you avoid this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle called Secure-A-Key. The device is installed inside the key-fob of your vehicle and then will disconnect the battery after a few minutes of inactivity. This can be done on the majority of modern PKE key-fobs.
